With some regret, the Executive Board of TEMPO has decided to disband the organization. The reasons are several. The membership has declined over the last several years, as has attendance at the programs. In order to rectify the situation, the Board has offered new and interesting programs based on membership feedback, changed meetings times and places to encourage attendance and solicited new Board members, all with little response. The meeting attendance remains stagnant at below 20 people, with many meetings attended by only a few interested people. The programs do take some time and effort to coordinate and produce, and with precious few people doing the work and few people attending, we realize that the time has come to close the doors on TEMPO.

TEMPO is 26 years old and has filled a professional development and networking need for technical trainers in the Philadelphia area. The programs have been relevant and well-produced and drawn some well-known speakers such as Gloria Gery and Elliott Masie. However, over this timeframe, the integration of PCs into our everyday business and personal lives has blurred the edges between the technical trainer and the non-technical trainer. This has created much overlap of the programs offered by the various training organizations in our area. We find that the niche TEMPO served is no longer there.

We will leave the opportunity open to others to give TEMPO a new life by maintaining the web site and domain name through September 2008. If interested, please contact info@tempo-train.org. There will also be a small budget of startup money. The balance of the money in the TEMPO bank account will go to a philanthropy recipient (as we have done many times in the past) decided upon by the Board.
